Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is confident the club are heading in the right direction under American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
The American duo kept their promise to invest heavily in the transfer market by paying a club record £20million fee for Fernando Torres earlier this week.
Gerrard has been impressed by Gillett and Hicks and he has praised them for dipping into their pockets to finance Rafa Benitez's rebuilding plans.
"[By handing Benitez] the finance to strengthen, we can go from a good team to a great team," Gerrard writes in the paperback update of his autobiography which has been serialised in the Daily Telegraph.
Gerrard also praised Reds boss Rafa Benitez for guiding them to the UEFA Champions League final last season, but admitted his surprise at some his tactical decisions in the 2-1 defeat to Milan.
The England international felt Benitez left it too late to bring on substitute Peter Crouch as Liverpool went chasing the game in the second half.
"Rafa came up with the right game-plan in Athens," said Gerrard, referring to the 4-5-1 formation.
"In the second half (with Liverpool losing 1-0), I expected some subs sharpish.
"I trust Rafa. The manager clearly had belief in the players who were on, but I was surprised Crouchy did not come on earlier. Not just Crouchy, any sub. We needed something different."
