Latics complete Koumas deal

Wigan have completed their sixth signing of the close-season with the £5.3million acquisition of Jason Koumas.

The Wales international arrives at The JJB on a four-year deal, after concurring on personal terms following productive talks with Wigan boss Chris Hutchings.

Koumas is widely regarded to be one of the best players outside of the Premiership, and has previously courted attention from the likes of Everton and Aston Villa.

While West Brom were loath to lose a player who would have been integral to their bid for promotion next season, the move does represent an astute piece of business in a financial sense.

Koumas moved to The Hawthorns from Tranmere back in 2002 for a £2.25million fee, with his subsequent switch to Wigan representing a £3million profit.

Hutchings has wasted little time in stamping his own mark on the club since succeeding Paul Jewell, having added Koumas' signing to those of Titus Bramble, Mario Melchiot, Antoine Sibierski, Carlo Nash and Andreas Granqvist.
