Birmingham are believed to be chasing St Etienne defender Fousseni Diawara.
Diawara came close to joining Bolton in January, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute.
Birmingham are now thought to be ready to offer the full-back a switch to St Andrews as Steve Bruce continues to strengthen his squad.
Diawara's agent Franck Belhassen claims Birmingham along with several other English sides are tracking the Mali international.
"Birmingham City would like to sign Fousseni Diawara," said Belhassen told the Sunday Mirror.
"But other clubs in England are interested in him and are ready to offer Fousseni a contract."
