Kenyon keen to avoid fall out

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon believes there will be no repeat of the fall out between Roman Abramovich and Jose Mourinho this season.

The pair clashed throughout last term leaving many feeling Mourinho may be forced out by the billionaire owner.

However, the duo reconciled their differences during the close-season and now Kenyon is hoping to avoid a repeat this time around.

"I'm not saying there weren't issues, there were various issues as there are at every club," explained Kenyon.

"That has been addressed and I'm confident about next season and that aspect of Chelsea. I don't think anyone wants a repeat of last year."

Meanwhile, Kenyon is backing Andrei Shevchenko and Michael Ballack to deliver for The Blues this season.

The pair were big-name additions last summer, although neither really lit up the Premier League or lived up to their billing.

However, Kenyon believes after adapting to life in England the high-profile duo will begin to deliver the goods this season.

"Andrei and Mike came in on four-year contracts, not for a year and then if you do okay we'll resign you," he continued.

"It's a four-year commitment to add value to the squad over a period of time.

"Both of those players know they have got much more to achieve and want to achieve much more.

"I remember having a similar conversation this time last year. It can be easy to underestimate the settling in to English football."
